Suzanne Weyn weaves an interesting story about what would happen to the world once we’ve run out of oil. What would you do if you found yourself living in a world without gas? What would you miss most? Both of these are questions I had in my mind as I was reading Empty. But their lives are never going to be the same again. Niki, Tom, and Gwen may find what they need to survive. There is hope – there has to be hope – just there are also sacrifices that need to be made, and a whole society that needs to be rethought. And in the small town of Sage Valley, decisions that once seemed easy are quickly becoming matters of life and death. Nobody expected the end to come this fast. Life has just become more local than we ever knew it could be. It’s the near future – the very near future – and the fossil fuels are running out.
